Book in a Week

Dead Man's CayI’m participating in World Romance Writers Book in a Week, using my DEAD MAN’S CAY as fodder. For those of you who don’t know, BIAW is not intended to necessarily get your book completed in a week, but more to assist you in developing discipline in your writing schedule. Personally, I am going to use it as a tool to prove to myself that I can write in greater volume per day, as this is something with which I sometimes struggle. Book in a Week starts tomorrow at 8AM and ends on Sunday at midnight. All of the participating writers set a goal and then work to get there by Sunday night.

As of this morning, I’ve decided to make Dead Man’s Cay an 80,000 word single title. When I finish it, this book will be my very first completed single title manuscript, a fact that makes me very happy.

Dead Man’s Cay is the story of Sonya Tansing, an unloved heiress who dumps her husband-to-be just before their wedding when she discovers the secret gambling debts he expected her to pay after their marriage. When Sonya decides to go to the private island honeymoon spot in the Bahamas alone, she gets more adventure than relaxation, as the island is already inhabited by Gray Bolton, a treasure-hunting scuba diver pretending to be the caretaker.

The full blurb is up on my books page, if you’d like to know more. I’ll be posting regular updates about my progress over the week (so now I’m bound to write, just to make sure I do what I said I would).
